Make sure your most important pages are easy to find in your main menu. If you have lots of pages that your visitors will actually be interested in, consider keeping the main menu items broad in scope with secondary page links available in a dropdown. You can also keep section-specific submenus visible only in their relative areas. For example, if you have several service offerings, limit the main menu link to something like "Services" or "Solutions" with each area of focus linked in a dropdown menu or have the main link go to an overview page to help customers find their best option.
Presenting too many options right up front can frustrate visitors. Frustrated visitors will leave your site.
